Christa Marquez will have a solo show of 53 prints and ink drawings at the Pompadour Gallery opening this Saturday.
Marquez is known for her woodcut prints, ink on paper drawings and works on clayboard.
She has been an artist-in-residence with the Venice Printmaking Studio in Italy and was awarded the Romanos Rizk Scholarship from The Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
She has said her Mexican-American ancestry has influenced her appreciation of “highly stylized, design rich, pre-Columbian art and hieroglyphs.”
“This imagery has influenced my use of bold lines and strong positive/negative shapes.” She once noted
The show at Pompadour Gallery at Salon X, is curated by Alan Vetter.
