From Project Runway To Paris

Patricia Michaels has been invited to show an Haute Couture Collection in Paris, in November of this year.

For any designer, this would be a dream come true, and while Patricia is excited about the amazing opportunity, she’s also concerned as to how she’s going to finance such a huge undertaking.

Taos Pueblo Native, Patricia Michaels, was the 1st runner-up on Project Runway’s Season 11.  She is an award-winning, multi-faceted and highly talented designer, who is also a committed Taosena;  Pat currently sits on the Board of The Taos Historic Museums.

Since Project Runway, Patricia has gone on to show during  Fashion Week in Manhattan, design the uniforms for staff at the newly opened Hotel Chaco in Albuquerque, all the while continuing to refine and expand her Brand.

Patricia has now been invited to attend the WORLD FASHION WEEK® PARIS 2017/18 EXPO this November of 2017 This is a great honor especially since she will be the first Native American to represent the US at the event.

She is one of ten fashion designers who were chosen to represent the United States , together with accomplished designers from around the world. Along with the Couture Collection, she intends to present a Pret A Porter collection as well. Patricia is clearly ready to go!

When (High Fashion) model, actress, author and all ’round dynamo, Joan Severance  (whom Patricia cites as a Muse), heard about this, she decided to get involved. Joan, who has worn Pat’s designs in several shoots working with photographer Bill Curry, has decided to produce a documentary of this event, from start to finish.

Knowing the business of Fashion as well as she does, Joan understands more than most, the price tag that comes along with the honor of being invited to participate in such a great event, and has set up a Go Fund Me to raise funds for Patricia, to ensure that her Collection will be on the Paris Runway in November.

As Joan notes on the Go Fund Me page for Patricia: The struggles to create a name in the fashion industry are huge. Patricia is so involved with every aspect of her designs she even makes the actual fabrics! She hand paints others, hand sews others and comes up with unique designs inspired by her Taos Pueblo heritage and her deep connection to the elements of Earth and Universe. She is often seen with dye and paint on her hands from hours of artistic expression poured into a single garment.

Patricia has earned this honor with her hard work and dedication. Her commitment to her heritage is reflected in her beautiful creations that truly come alive when worn.  Imagine them floating down the runway in the City of Light!

Let’s give Patricia a helping hand and donate what we can so that she can realise a lifelong dream.
