Seeing Stars

Just minutes away from the Taos Country Club and Golf Course, far from the bright lights of town, if you are a star gazer, there’s no better spot to watch the skies for signs of life.

This very special house was until recently the home of a famous artist who spent years living and creating here, until using some long distance movers to help him move out and be closer to his children and family.

The house was his studio as well as his sanctuary; a safe harbour far from the madding crowd. Several other renowned artists live in this neighborhood including Anita Otilla Rodriguez.

The colourful accent walls, painted purple, turquoise and red, change hues in the shifting, magical light that Taos is known for, and are a constant reminder of a former artist in residence.

In fact the entire home is imbued with inspiration and creative vibes, having seen many accomplished artists walk through its doors to spend time with its owner.

With its stunning, panoramic views of Taos Mountain and the foothills, you’d be hard pressed to find another house in Taos that offers so much at such an affordable price.

Three bedrooms, two full baths, high ceilings with massive vigas and traditional saltillo tile floors and two kiva fireplaces, lend this space true Taos charm, while the clever placement of large windows not only let in masses of light but connect the interior to the outside, seamlessly.

The open space living/dining area with its 10ft ceilings is a gourmet cook’s dream; perfect for entertaining a crowd, or daydreaming alone, on a winters day, while gazing at Taos Mountain through the large picture window, staying warm beside a roaring fire. The fireplace is a lovely feature for the home and can help to make its owners warm and cozy should they experience cold weather. Some people may not like the addition of a fireplace and would rather have an HVAC system fitted by professionals from somewhere similar to blairsair.com instead. This will not only do the same job as the fireplace, but it will also have the ability to cool you down should you get too hot. But for now, you should really take in the fireplace and what it has to offer to this glorious property.

A large portal is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a cocktail at the end of the day, while the home’s walled courtyard gardens offer privacy without obstructing the exquisite vistas.

If it’s a quiet retreat you are after yet not too remote, look no further.

The heated two car garage can easily be converted into a studio, another bedroom or a separate rental unit. Radiant heat throughout the home keeps it toasty warm in winter, aided by the passive solar window placement. However, if there was a need later on for a car garage or for use of storage, then prefab garages can easily be installed.

The master bedroom is en suite with its own private patio looking out onto the xeriscaped gardens, which are fully mature, having been planted when the owner moved in almost two decades ago.

The house sits on a little more than an acre with a shared well. It’s just a fifteen minute drive to Taos Plaza yet feels like it’s a world away, If you can’t bear the thought of leaving your perfect sanctuary yet the cupboards are bare, the Terrace at the Taos Country Club is one of the best restaurants around.

And I kid you not, the stars are brighter in this part of town! Just look up on any given, cloudless night and be dazzled by the brilliant swath of Milky Way and shooting stars that might or might not be visitors from distant galaxies.

These gorgeous shots were taken yesterday by the owner’s son on his iPhone. Clearly his artistic eye proves that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree.

This Chic Shack is between Realtors, and is on the Market for the unbelievably low price of 389,000. The owners are currently in town through this weekend and are happy to show the house before it changes to new representation. A little bird tells me they will come down on the price if it is bought directly from them.

It is very clear that these realtors take great pride in their homes and will always enable potential buyers to view the property when they wish. It is a sign of good people when they do this and with the help of any Real Estate CRM Software that they have decided to incorporate within their day-to-day business, being able to offer a service that is out of the world to their clients is only going to be heightened. So, I really hope that they are able to sell this home to worthy buyers – it’s what they deserve after all.

This is a rather special Chic Shack for taoStyle,, as I was given the idea and title for this category, by the owner’s wife.
