The Pink Ribbon Story

Holy Cross Cancer Support Services are busy painting the town Pink this October.

There are pink T-shirts for sale and women walking around with pink ribbons pinned to their dresses, but few know the history behind all this infusion of the colour Pink.

The woman was 68-year-old Charlotte Haley, the granddaughter, sister, and mother of women who had battled breast cancer. Her peach-colored loops were handmade in her dining room. Each set of five came with a card saying: “The National Cancer Institute annual budget is $1.8 billion, only 5 percent goes for cancer prevention. Help us wake up our legislators and America by wearing this ribbon.”… Then Self magazine called.

You can read more about Charlotte Haley and the story of the Pink Ribbons in the link  I’ve included below this post, but because this year’s (Cancer Support Services), event schedule is jam-packed. – so much so, that I thought a separate post listing all the events was in order – so here you have it.  Thus I have little room left  to expound on the Pink Ribbon itself, hence the link after the list!

Aside from the Plantfeast which a few lucky folks got to attend last week, there is still much more on the agenda, and lots of ways for you to get involved!
