Summer At El Monte Sagrado

BBQ, Brews & Badminton sounds like fun!

All summer long, the El Monte Sagrado Resort & Spa is hosting a family style BBQ every Friday from 6-8pm, at their Anaconda Bar & Patio.

Badminton is one of the fastest growing (and fastest), new/old sports in America, so these nights will be full of fun and games, with enough activity thrown in to work up a great appetite for Chef Cristina Martinez’ delectable offerings.

Smoked pulled pork with a bourbon glaze, smoked BBQ chicken and a selection of mouth watering New Mexico accented sides including jalapeno hot links and Ghost Ranch beans are just the tip of Cristina’s personal iceberg! She is one of the best, most underrated chefs in Taos. That’s changing though as more people become aware of her low key, yet unmistakable presence in El Monte’s kitchen.

This summer she and Robin Naylor, El Monte’s Event Director,  will be pulling out all the culinary stops!

From BBQ’s to Crab Boils, they have you covered. On Saturday June 29th, they’ll be hosting a Crab Boil in the Sacred Circle on the resort’s gorgeous grounds. With a prix fixe menu that includes several delicious appetizers, a feast of a main course (with scallops, shrimp, smoked sausages and more along with the crab), and desert. Wine and beer are not included in the price.

Robin and Cristina have also been working together to create a prix fixe menu for their new addition; a Business Lunch served Monday- Thursday from 11-2pm. The restaurant has always been a lunch-time go-to for a few local business owners in the know, and now there’s incentive for even more locals to enjoy the fabulous food and atmosphere at El Monte Sagrado.

Those in the know also know that the hotel’s Sunday Brunch is one of the best kept secrets in town, with Chef Cristina’s Whiskey Cured Salmon or house made Gravlax often on the menu along with all the traditional brunch offerings made from whatever is fresh and in season. Christina’s food is Farm to Table at its finest!

Robin has also been busy in other areas and as if this summer schedule wasn’t packed enough at El Monte, she’s teamed up with artist Rich Nichols for a Cocktails & Canvas series. What a great way to while away a summer evening on the resort’s spectacular property with its water gardens and unobstructed views of Taos Mountain. Plein Air painting doesn’t get better than this!

And don’t forget the fabulous Angelisa Espinoza Murray runs her Heritage Inspiration Tours from here as well. From full and half day excursions to custom designed Glamping adventures, Heritage Inspirations will take you where no other tour guides go; for a truly authentic New Mexico experience look no further.
