The New Mexico Artisans Market is an event held to highlight some of the state’s best artisans and makers.
While the event, normally held over Thanksgiving weekend, has been canceled this year due to the pandemic, the Sawmill Market in Albuquerque will be hosting the Artisan Pop-Up Market in its place, on weekends beginning this month. The pop-up market will feature makers from across the state, including Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Lunas, Taos, and more!
Open each weekend, Friday through Sunday, through December 27, the Artisan Pop-Up Market will highlight a rotating selection of more than 40 hand-picked New Mexico artisans and makers representative of the finest creative fields in the state. In addition, Sawmill Market is pleased to announce the openings of several new merchants, including NM Melt Co., Salty Catch SW, 135 Degrees Barbecue, and Neko Neko, as well as Red & Green and Rush of Prana, coming soon.
The Artisan Pop-Up Market at Sawmill will offer an opportunity to continue the tradition of showcasing some of the best of local artisans and makers. Each vendor is hand-selected and juried, considered from a large variety of contemporary and traditional styles that complement New Mexico’s existing creative markets.
“Each year, the New Mexico Artisan Market spotlights hundreds of hand-selected New Mexican makers and creates an important avenue for guests to connect with and support some of the state’s finest artists,” said Belia Alvarez, Corporate Director of Community Relations at Heritage Hotels & Resorts and Executive Director for the New Mexico Multi-Cultural Foundation, the organization overseeing the New Mexico Artisan Market. “We’re proud to be able to uphold this tradition by bringing it back in a new and exciting way, while keeping guest and vendor safety top of mind.”
Each weekend of the Pop-Up Artisan Market will feature a rotating selection of handcrafted goods, with disciplines ranging from jewelry and fashion to ceramics/pottery, furniture, candles, metal and glass works, and more. Running through Sunday, December 27, the Artisan Pop-Up Market is an ideal spot for picking up gifts during the holiday season.
