After a summer spent in the High Desert sun, with a few more hours to spare here and there now that kids are back in school, it’s the perfect time to head to Salon X for some serious skin repair and pampering.
Most of my readers already know that taostyle Sponsor, Salon X is the place to go for great cuts and colour, and many of you know that it’s also a gallery showing cutting edge work by some of the most interesting artists in Taos.
Salon X is also a full service salon, offering the very best in skin care using PCA and 3D brows, a professional product line also carried by and sold at the salon.
Jessica Boudreau is originally from Texas where she trained as an aesthetician in Lubbock over twenty years ago. Before moving to Taos seven years ago, Jessica worked for a plastic surgeon in Texas.
These days she divides her time between a high-end resort and spa in Taos and Salon X where she can be found Tuesday through Friday.
Her approach is thorough and guided by classic skin care principles, but she is open to alternative skin care with a broad knowledge of herbs and essential oils.
PCA, the skin care line she uses, which is also sold at Salon X, is available exclusively through physicians and licensed skin care professionals only.
Jessica describes it as “result driven” and says that a monthly facial at the salon in combination with a disciplined at home routine, using the products, will show rapid improvement.
I talked to her as she gave a client a pedicure. The same client had just had a facial and her skin glowed with the circulation stimulated by the facial massage.
“My skin has done a complete turnaround since I started coming to see Jessica,” she told me. “I had adult onset acne and other problems that have vanished.”
“And we haven’t even done a peel yet.” Jessica chimed in.
This, according to Jessica is the season for peels.
“Right after Summer and before the Ski Season begins is perfect,” she tells me. “You’re not in the sun as much so chances of irritation are low.”
Jessica’s own skin is flawless and clearly she practices what she preaches.
“Look, the skin is our largest organ,” she says, “it makes sense that we should take good care of it.”
Along with being known for giving the best facials, pedicures and manicures, Jessica is the Waxing Queen in Taos. Lots of women I know (including one of my daughters), head directly to see her at the start of Summer or before leaving for a beach vacation. I’m told she’s fast and painless.
Be advised that you do need to book in advance to see Jessica, but if it’s only a mani or pedi that you want to squeeze in during a hair appointment, Tianna Bolchunos, has joined the Salon X team after several years away from the Beauty Business.
Tianna’s perfectly happy to do manicures, pedicures and some waxing while she works on getting her hair groove back!
