Sometimes the detours we take from Life’s path, are the ones that bring us back to our true sense of purpose.
When Tianna Bolchunos left her hometown of Boulder, Colorado for Seattle Washington, she had no idea she’d wind up in the Beauty Biz, and she certainly didn’t know then what twists and turns her life would take once she had completed her studies and opened her own little salon.”The salon is still a salon!” She laughs as she tells her story of her roundabout journey from Seattle to Salon X in Taos.
Tianna is the junior stylist at Salon X, but she is so much more than that! Stylish, bright, talented and very funny, Tianna is a great addition to the stellar team Delta’s put together at Salon X.
Delta and Tianna met in Seattle when an ex-boyfriend of Delta’s asked if he and his new girlfriend could stay with her and her new family for a few days.
Delta agreed and she and Tianna became fast friends and decided to go to Beauty School together.
After her own Seattle adventures which you can read about here, Delta returned to Taos to raise her son Finn and continued her education in the business she had accidentally fallen into.
Meanwhile Tianna opened the aforementioned salon in Seattle and had a steady business for a couple of years, until the revelation that she was still in her twenties and hadn’t really done much more then be extremely responsible, inspired her to sell the salon, and take off to Hawaii where she spent a couple of years in the surf and sun.
A move to Barcelona with a boyfriend whom she partnered with in a bicycle shop, opened up new horizons and a love of travel and foreign lands.
When she finally returned to the States post breakup with the boy, she was broke and at a loss as to where to go next. She went to California to work on a farm for a season and as the season came to an end, with a bit of money in her pocket, she called Delta and asked if she could visit on her way to see friends and family in Colorado.
Delta immediately offered her a job in her new salon.
“I remember her telling me she’d won Best Of Taos and although I’d visited before and seen the little salon she shared with her former partner but had not yet seen this space, I was pretty impressed and thought why not?”
“I knew I was rusty and it would take some time to get my groove back, but I was willing to give it a try.”
Tianna certainly got her groove back; she’s not only cutting hair again but she’s also trained with the PCA line (she’s a licensed aesthetician as well as a hair stylist) and does facials, manis, pedis and waxing at Salon X.
A couple of days a week, Tianna who is also an artist, is working at a Ceramics gallery and firing her own gorgeous pottery.
“Life is good.” She smiles.
With a new guy in her life and a great gig at Salon X, she’s made Taos her home.
