October in Taos is a glorious cacophony of colour, but a pink glow never hurt anyone or anything, and this month it’s mandatory!
Multi-talented duo, Jason Pfeifer and Liz Fox are busy making sure we all know about it with a series of events planned throughout the month of October, to bring awareness to, and benefit Cancer Support Services locally.
Jason and Liz are tireless warriors for the cause; their work is largely unseen and thankless, but for those of us who know them through the awesome support group for cancer patients and survivors, they co-facilitate on Tuesday evenings, it is immensely appreciated.
This month the two of them are in overdrive coordinating and organizing a myriad of events.
On October 14th at SOMOS from 5-10pm, there’s a Pink Party and Silent Auction with tons of great stuff donated by individuals and local businesses, including Dinner à deux at the Love Apple. Bob Andrews will be in the house! The Zumba Party on the 15th from 11am -1pm at the Enos Garcia Gym ($12.00 in advance, $15.00 at the door) is sure to be a blast not to mention a major workout. After that you won’t feel the least bit guilty indulging in Chris Maher’s 5 course Secret Supper on the 19th at 6pm. Location to be revealed that morning. Cost per person is $125.00. Email Jason at [email protected] to RSVP.
This Saturday, at Shree Yoga Taos, from 5.30 – 7pm, Liz Fox will guide a gentle and nourishing restorative yoga practice while Jvala Moonfire tones her crystal bowls, chants, and sings. This event is also a benefit for Cancer Support Services, part of Paint Taos Pink. $15 minimum donation.
Along with all of the above, Monique Parker will be teaching a Yoga Workshop to benefit this very worthy cause.
HEALING THROUGH YOGA with Monique
Sunday, October 9 3-5 PM, $25
Healing through Yoga is a hybrid restorative-Yin yoga class that will help you to release stresses stored in the body while soothing the nervous system. Asanas will be performed slowly with a breath focus so that the movement and restfulness attain a quality of meditation. Adding the calming balm of yin poses further helps to stimulate the deeper connective tissues. The result is 2-hours of nourishing self-care that produces greater calm in the body. All proceeds donated to Cancer Support Services fundraiser “Paint Taos Pink.” Pre-registration required. Space limited. $25 Beginners encouraged to attend.
