It’s snowing again!
And the vineyards in northern New Mexico may be frozen over at this time of year but you can still enjoy their bounty by visiting Taos during the 28th Annual Taos Winter Wine Festival, taking place from January 29th to February 2nd.
With events planned in and around the town of Taos, Taos Ski Valley Resort, and at the El Monte Sagrado Resort, this is absolutely the best way to combine time on the slopes with Grand and Reserve tastings, seminars, an unforgettable Sunday brunch, along with other tastings (the Cellar), and dinners at some of Taos’ finest restaurants.
This four-day celebration of food and wine features 24 participating local Taos restaurants, including the Love Apple, Lambert’s, Common Fire, Doc Martins and Aceq – all known for their great wine lists – as well as 40+ national wineries, including our own, Vivac!
Besides Reserve and Grand Tastings, related events include an auction and numerous seminars with noted wine makers from around the globe. Held in the scenic Village of Taos Ski Valley, it’s great for wine travelers and ski lovers!
The weekend culminates with the Grand Tasting at the Taos Valley Ski Resort where restaurants and wineries serve samples of their best food and wine.
For the Taste of Taos & Reserve Tasting, Wine Country comes to the historic town of Taos with a dozen of Taos’ best restaurants serving signature appetizers alongside tastes of reserve wines from 32 participating wineries at the elegant El Monte Sagrado Resort. The Reserve Tasting also features a silent auction of wine to benefit the Taos High School Culinary Arts Program.
The Grand Tasting (at the foot of chairlift #1) features more than 150 different wines, and again features tastes from a dozen of Taos and Taos Ski Valley’s finest restaurants. Can you imagine a better way to end a great day of skiing on one of the world’s best mountains?
And then on Superbowl Sunday, Feb 2nd, start it off (and end the weekend), with a Champagne brunch! El Monte Sagrado will host the brunch, pairing four successive plates with four unique French sparkling wines — two from Savoie and two from Champagne.
With Taos Air in the air, and getting around Taos easier than it has ever been, I can’t think of a better time to plan your trip, can you?
