Before moving to Taos, Heather Miro had already racked up thousands of hours doing hair in London and the Bay Area where she was born and raised.
By the time she arrived in the Land Of Enchantment she had honed her skills to a fine art and her devoted and loyal following in Taos attest to that.
The daughter of the accomplished artist/photographer Pearl Jones Tranter, Heather’s Bohemian joie de vivre carries over into her own work. Her creative curiosity serves her well as a stylist, unafraid to experiment with new styles and techniques and fearless with the use of colour.
That said, her decades of experience have imbued her with that wonderful and rare quality; the ability to listen to what her client wants and the willingness to translate that into something that will work with their hair.
Vidal Sassoon trained (with hundreds of hours of followup workshops), Heather also studied for the American Board of Certified Colorists. Her innate understanding of color is an exceptional gift, but her haircuts are her piece de resistance, and are what bring her clients back to her chair time and again.
After having her own salon north of town for many years, many of them were surprised by her decision to close her doors and her move to Salon X. But the sweetheart deal she has with Salon X owner, Delta Cosette-Bayer is as good as it gets and serves them both well.
“I love having Heather here,” Delta tells me. “Her experience and incredible talent as a stylist really ups the ante at Salon X, and besides she’s a great fit personality-wise.”
Heather is married to artist Michael Miro who shows at the Taos Mountain Gallery which was featured here on the blog recently.
In her spare time, Heather’s passion for Flamenco jockey’s for time in her garden (during the spring and summer); an avid dancer, she takes classes and attends workshops with visiting dancers and troupes whenever she can. Sometimes, in between clients you can hear her feet tapping out a quiet beat in the adjacent room Delta has opened up for extra storage and as an education facility.
Speaking of which, I’ll be posting more about that soon but Heather will play a big role in this new and expanding aspect of Salon X.
Heather Miro is also a trained Make Up Artist and is available for consultations and special events. To book an appointment with the fabulous Ms. Miro, please visit Salon X’s site below this post and be forewarned, there’s bound to be a bit of a wait. She’s just one woman with a huge (and growing) clientel!
Update: Heather will be opening her own salon in Taos on Dec 1st 2016. Her departure from Salon X is amicable and she and Delta will continue to collaborate on projects and continuing education.
