Step inside Salon X.
From the Barbershop posters in the entry, to the (albeit flowery), portrait of a well-groomed mid era, David Bowie, it’s clear that men are not only welcome, but encouraged to get their hair cut here, alongside the women who frequent this very popular salon.
“Men have always made up a large part of my clientel,” Delta told me. “I actually worked in a barbershop in Seattle, and Monty is a Barber as well as a Hairdresser.”
Delta Cosette- Bayer is a highly accomplished stylist. Since starting out in the Industry while living in Seattle, she’s trained with Toni and Guy in NYC, Jacques Dessange in Paris and is the only Board Certified member of the Board of (certified), American Colorists in Taos.
Salon X has been written up in National publications and has won the Best of Taos Award a few times since opening. The Salon is now in its third incarnation after going through a bit of a Goldilocks journey. Too small, too big. Just right!
Along with cutting mens hair, Delta carries the fabulous Dutch men’s pomade line – Ruezel – which would by the way, make excellent stocking stuffers for the men in your life!
And speaking of products, Salon X is the only salon in town that carries the Kevin Murphy line.
The Australian company creates products with a conscience; products that don’t harm the environment by utilising packaging that is recyclable or biodegradable.
They use sulphate free surfactants that cleanse without stripping or depleting the hair of its color. AHAs ( fruit acids), derived from Papaya, Citrus, and Sugar Cane gently exfoliate the hair surface.
Natural surfactants from the Soap Bark Tree, Quillaja, and other plant-derived sources create rich luxurious lathers that moisturise and nourish the hair, and all of their products are naturally sulphate and paraben free.
After reading this story recently about yet another dead whale filled with plastic, I threw out all of my hair products except for Kevin Murphy’s!
The company recently announced they are committed to reducing plastic by cleaning up the oceans and reclaiming that plastic to package their hair products.
Their bottles will be made from 100% recycled ocean plastics in an effort to create a circular supply chain.
“In doing so, we will be the first ever beauty brand to implement this practice, through which we project to save over 360 tons of new plastic each year. Our recycled bottles will begin debuting globally in salons in mid-2019.” A rep for the company explained when he dropped by the salon recently.
This alone is reason enough to spend a few extra bucks on a product line that gently and ethically does the job
The beautifully packaged styling products, along with shampoos and conditioners to suit every hair type, make great gifts and the mini sizes are also perfect stocking stuffers! (Kevin Murphy products are equally appreciated by the men who use them!)
In fact, Delta has several sweet extras on the shelves this Holiday Season, from lotions to soaps infused with essential oils, mineral makeup on sale, along with the stellar PCA skin care line. Tianna uses exclusively for her fabulous facials.
